Christmas is looming again ...... so if you are feeling that time is running away, and you haven't started your shopping - why not book an extra session for your child at pre-school to give yourself some time to start preparing for the Chrsistmas festivities...
Sessions are charged at £16 (French club at Cheapside on Fridays £20) and lunch supervision is £5. Please ask a member of staff at your pre-school setting, as spaces are limited.
After a fun time last week exploring our new activity, 'Write Dance', we will be continuing to use music to enhance our fine and gross motor skills to aid our pre-writing skills. The children (and staff!!) have had great fun dancing and painting to all kinds of music and it has been fascinating to watch as the children move in different ways to the music, interpreting in their own way, slow and fast, loud and soft.
This week, we will also be introducing the children to 'Gym Dough', which requires them to squeeze and squish play dough in time to the music. We're sure we'll be having lots of fun!!
This week we will be making the alphabet in silver and purple for our Pre-school contribution to the South Ascot Communities Christmas Tree Project. On Friday am we will take our tree to All Souls Church.
We will be beginning our Nativity storyboard display.
Please encourage your child to bring things beginning with Aa Bb Cc to show and tell time.
Please try to come along to our Parent/ carer play session which this week is on WEDNESDAY 27th November 8.45-10am.
We continue our French on Tuesday and Instrumentally music on Thursday mornings.
Do come along to our weekly parent/carer play morning and have fun like Max’s Mum!
This week we will be taking special photos for our Advent Calendar and decorating baubles for our countdown to Christmas display.
Our role play is Ascot High Street services and shops.
Show & tell things beginning with Vv Ww Xx this week please.
Our Parent/carer play session is TUESDAY 19th November 8.45-10am. Do pop in for some fun!
Do sign up for our parent/keyworker appointment slots during w/c 2nd December. Learning Journeys will be available to take home to share that week.
Here are some photos from our Intros
We also had a great fun in the new taster French session on Tuesday, when the children learnt the colours of the French flag : Bleu, blanc et rouge
Last week we had great fun in our role play area, pretending we were at the vets! The children have decided that they had so much fun, that they are keeping the vets for another week. On Wednesday afternoon, we decided to go on an adventure. The children walked to Windsor Great Park where they had a mini Forest School experience. Most were covered in mud but very happy!
This week, we will be continuing to create our outdoor music area with all the pots, pans and spoons that you have been sending in (thank you). We will also be exploring music and movement through 'Write Dance'. Write Dance is an approach and method that provides movement opportunities so children can develop the physical skills needed to develop their handwriting skills. The movement is driven by the music and the underlying principle is enjoyment to build confidence. We will be using music as diverse as Tchaikovsky to Elvis or One Direction to Strauss, so it's bound to be lots of fun for everyone!!
W/c 11th November 2013
A great big thank you to all the children, teachers and parents who supported the Christmas Child Shoebox activity last week. We took 10 boxes to All Soul’s Church on Friday morning from the two Preschools.
We will be exploring people who help us this week. Our role play will reflect Ascot High Street shops and local services.
WE WILL BE DOING FIREDRILLS THIS WEEK! Please speak to us if your child has any worries about this.
Our new French will continue on Tuesday am & our Instrumentally Intros music on Thursday am.
Show and tell beginning with Ss Tt Uu please.
Our weekly parent/carer play session is MONDAY 11th this week. All welcome between 8.45-10am.
Following the resounding success of our new "Intros" music sessions on Monday mornings at Cheapside, we are delighted to announce that we will now be able to offer these to children at South Ascot setting on a Thursday morning.
The one hour sessions will be run by an experienced teacher from Instrumentally, following the same format as Cheapside - with story telling, introductions to musical notes and musical instruments and much much more!
Parents will shortly receive more information about both these sessioins via email.
This week we will be exploring Bonfire Night and Diwali, two cultural events in one week! For Diwali, we will be telling candlelit stories, making a display using articles brought back from India by an ex pupil and listening to some lovely Music.
For Bonfire Night, we will be making a large firework picture to hang in pre-school. We'll probably end up really messy, so if your child comes home splattered in paint, you'll know they've had a great time.
Don't forget the sausage sizzle at South Ascot this Friday, we'd love to see you all there!
We will be exploring Diwali and Bonfire Night this week through creative activities, using a range of media, including music, glitter and paint!
In session the children will make up shoebox presents for the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Child appeal! Please see the posters for more info.
Please bring in things beginning with Pp Qq Rr for Show & Tell time.
Our weekly parent and carer play session will begin next Monday 11th November.
