On their many walks they had great fun looking at what was growing (and testing the staff's knowledge on the names of plants!) spotting where many of them live and calling in on gardening Grandma and Grandad. Sadly, the Thursday morning turned out to be the worst for weather, so a quick visit to plant potatoes unfortunately meant that the rest of the pre-school planting at Grandma & Grandads wasn't accomplished. Because of this, we've now decided that the runner bean and sunflower seeds will be planted this Thursday when Grandma & Grandad come to pre-school. We are also being joined this week by the lovely Mrs Clarke, who is going to make vegetable pizza's with the children, to continue our exploration of planting and growing. Show & Tell Pp, Qq, Rr May Ball Don't forget you still have one more day to book your ticket for the May Ball, so please try to join us! If you can't why don't you have a go at bidding on the auction items, you never know, you might be a winner!!! “A great big thank you to Dexter’s Daddy for reading us a fabulous , fun story about a mole in German on Friday! We really enjoyed learning animal names in German.
We have had a great time this week with our mark making , especially using the ribbon sticks in the big hall and painting to different kinds of music including Handel’s water music which Little Mrs Shaw brought in for us. We even made our own music with our milk bottle xylophones and with sand shakers!” Last week at Cheapside we had great fun making our erupting volcanoes. Did the children tell you how we made them?
This week, we will be out and about in the village looking at what is growing and recording what we see through photographs (taken by the children), drawings and labels, working towards creating a 'Growing Book of the Village' We hope you like it when it's complete! Show and Tell Mm, Nn, Oo May Ball - Friday 16th May - Northcote House Don't forget it's not too late to come to the Ball, but hurry we need to know this week!! The children at South Ascot have had a super time creating a carwash last Wednesday for all the Pre-school vehicles and bathing the babies on Thursday!
We enjoyed playing the drum kits at Instrumentally Music on Thursday too! We hope you like our giant pictures on the fence and the ones around the tree too? This week we will be exploring mark making to music, using a range of media including paints, chalks, pens. We will be exploring mark making with ribbon sticks too.
