After a fun time of creating wintry works of art like the one in the
picture, it's time for the children to try something new!
This week we will be celebrating the Chinese New Year with craft activities and cooking with Mrs Clarke. We will be chopping and cutting a selection of vegetables, before they are stir fried and eaten with noodles. The biggest challenge will be using chopsticks to eat with!
Over the next few days, if your child is eligible to start primary
school in September, they will be bringing home an "All About Me at Home and Out and About" booklet. Please can you help us by filling this in and
bringing it back after the Easter holidays. We will then use it to plan towards your child's transition to 'big' school.
This weeks SHOW & TELL letters are Jj, Kk, Ll.
PLEASE NOTE: European Elections will be held at Cheapside Village Hall on the 22nd May 2014.
Unfortunately there will be no pre-school at Cheapside that day.

The wintry craft activities have been going well at Cheapside.
We will be continuing this week to explore textures and effects with our home made paints. The children have had lots of fun and made lots of mess, so it must be working!
Please can we remind you to bring in a photo of your child for the WOW board (thank you to those who already have) The children love to see themselves on the board and are delighted to share with you their WOW moments that have happened at pre-school or similarly, they love to bring in WOW's from home to show us.
Show and Tell letters are Gg, Hh, Ii.
Please could you remind your children that show and tell time is throughout the session, not at register time.
As much as we love to share what the children have brought in, it is impossible to get through 24 items at a time, without the natives becoming restless!!
Finally - can you help ? If you have any guttering or wooden planks to spare we would love these to enhance our outdoor play
Let’s get building: This week we will be exploring homes and houses around the World. The children will be using non-fiction resources to research, design and build a world village using recycled materials in the role play area. Can we make an igloo, a hut, a block of flats?
Please encourage your child to bring in things beginning with Mm Nn Oo for show and tell.
Join us for our Parent/carer play rota on TUESDAY 21st January from 8.45-10am.
Don’t forget French on Tuesdays and Instrumentally music on Thursdays.
This week at South Ascot we will be exploring designing, selecting materials and building with a purpose in mind using lots of construction resources as a start to our LET’S GET BUILDING theme.
Parent rota play day is Monday 13th January. Come and design with your children!
Show and tell sounds and letters are Jj Kk Ll.
We will be continuing our seasonal calendars to bring home!
This week, we will be exploring craft activities with a decidedly wintry theme. They'll be painting using doillies, black paper and white paint, to make snowflake garlands to decorate pre-school, the creation of our own snow paint using flour, salt and water and even sparkle paint using water, salt and chalks. Hopefully, the results will be seen displayed around the setting, pop in and take a look if you can!
The ice den in the home corner has developed well over the last week. The children had great fun under a canopy of ice blue with snowflakes made by the children decorating the outside. We're sure they will continue to add extra touches as they go along!
The nature table is looking a little bare at the moment! Would anyone like to bring something in to add to the wintry theme please?
Show and tell letters are Dd, Ee, Ff
Happy New Year to you all.Thank you for all of your lovely Christmas messages and gifts.
We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year celebrations. We're really excited to be back at pre-school and can't wait to start having fun!
This week at Cheapside we will be welcoming our new starters into our pre-school family and encouraging them to join in our activities. We'll be turning our home corner into an ice den, using craft materials, props and ideas from the children. By Friday it should look amazing!
During the week, we will be introducing a children's ideas board. The children often come to us saying "I've got a good idea" now we'll have somewhere to put them!
